Our story

Monique (Mon) started Younique in Rockhampton in 2022 with one question:

“why shouldn't people my age with a disability get to do all the things I do?”

Travel. Music festivals. Camping. Moving out. Basically whatever the heck they want.

In Australia, people with a disability are almost twice as likely to feel lonely as people without one. And too often, the wider community sees the disability before they see the person. Mon wanted to change that, and show Central Queensland that people with a disability can do everything everyone else can do, and more!

How we do things?

We match you with the right person. Before we roster anyone, we get to know you. Then we pair you with support workers who share your interests and suit your personality, so it feels less like a service and more like spending time with someone who gets you.

We keep it consistent. You'll see familiar faces, not a different stranger every week.

We change when you do. Some weeks are about building skills and some are about getting out of the house for a coffee. Your support can shift to match.
